I am retired Air Force and was staying at the base FAMCAMP. Over the span of two weeks, I would go through the gates going on and off base. Well, two gate guards really stood out for their professionalism and dedication to duty. This was Amn Devon Ingram and CMSgt Eric Adams An additional, rarely seen trait displayed by both of them was the very friendly and welcoming attitude to us every time we traversed the gate. Soooooo rarely seen. AIM HIGH!!!
After Alaska and Colorado, we honestly didn’t have high expectations for Alabama, but we were very pleasantly surprised. We had a great experience while stationed here as a military family for 3 years. The medical group was very attentive towards our young children and consistently provided excellent care. Base access was easy with minimal waits at the gate. The commissary is smaller than other bases but what we expected for a smaller base. We can’t rave enough about how incredible the CDC was. The staff are top-notch and genuinely loved our kids each day. Overall, we would be happy to be stationed here again!
4/12/24-checking outbound CAC, cars, etc is stupid when you all literally check ids before even getting on the damn base. Over the years I’ve been held up at the gate, had my car checked while 8 months pregnant in the rain at night for the “cops” to only find maybe my purse or Kirkland tissue or my laptop. Still don’t know what that was about 4 years later. Please stop being annoying. Sick of it now.
4/7/24 If you all have another air show please have some way for your workers and soldiers that don’t stay on base to park. I personally don’t appreciate having to walk from the beginning of the damn base all the way to near the flight line to clock in. Or having to be rerouted twice off base and back on. I was 30 mins late. DO BETTER. Also that pretend time cop I forget his name was extremely rude and all I was trying to do was go to work.
I would say that this commissary could use updating BUT MOREOVER, need some customer service skills big time. However, there are two outstanding cashiers, Hunter and Pam. They both are Great, helpful with impeccable people skills! As far as the others they need training, especially if they’re going to be talking to military families like they do!
The food court has a lot to be desired! The staff seems so unhappy for some reason!
The clinic is very pretty inside, spacious, but the pharmacy has been a thorn of contention for the six years that we’ve been getting our meds there. I’ve voiced my complaints several times, nothing seems to change. There is no reason you should ever have to wait in those lines.
