Tiger Woods’ son Charlie, 15, hits first hole-in-one
Charlie Woods Hits First Hole-in-One but Falls Short in PNC Championship Playoff
Tiger Woods’ teenage son, Charlie, delivered a career milestone at the PNC Championship, hitting his first-ever hole-in-one during the final round. Despite their stellar performance, Team Woods was edged out in a playoff by Bernhard and Jason Langer, who secured their second consecutive title and fourth overall in Orlando, Florida.
Charlie, 15, aced the par-three fourth hole, propelling the father-son duo into the lead at the tournament, which features 20 major champions teaming up with family members.
“It was awesome,” Charlie said after the round. “No one made a mistake today, so that was some of the most fun I’ve ever had. On top of that, I made an ace. I don’t think I can top that.”
The tournament concluded dramatically when Bernhard Langer, representing Team Langer alongside his son Jason, made an eagle on the first playoff hole to clinch the win.
Tiger Woods, playing in his first competitive event since the Open Championship in July, was thrilled to share the experience with his son. “We made a great team this week,” the 48-year-old said. “The joy of it all is being out here with family, bonding, and just enjoying each other’s company.”
Woods, a 15-time major champion, has been easing back into competitive play following back surgery in September, admitting he is “nowhere near competitive shape.”
A Day of Firsts
Charlie Woods wasn’t the only player to notch a hole-in-one on Sunday. Shortly after Charlie’s ace, Paddy Harrington, the 21-year-old son of three-time major winner Padraig Harrington, also achieved his first career hole-in-one on the par-three eighth.
“I’ve never been this excited before,” Padraig said of his son’s achievement. “It was an incredible moment.”
Who is Charlie Woods?
Born on February 9, 2009, Charlie is the son of Tiger Woods and his ex-wife, Elin Nordegren. The couple, who married in 2004 and divorced in 2010, also share an older daughter, Sam, born in 2007.
Charlie made history in 2020 as the youngest competitor in the PNC Championship at age 11, teaming up with his father. The duo has shown consistent improvement in the tournament, finishing as runners-up in 2021 and 2024, with other top-10 finishes in between.
Earlier this year, Charlie faced challenges on the competitive circuit, missing the cut at the US Junior Amateur Championship in July and falling short in his bid to qualify for the PGA Tour’s Cognizant Classic after a tough pre-qualifying round.
Despite the setbacks, the younger Woods continues to make his mark, with Sunday’s hole-in-one serving as a testament to his growing potential in the sport.
