Charlie Woods teed off Monday morning in the biggest event of his life thus far.
The 15-year-old son of Tiger Woods is competing in his first USGA Championship this week at the 2024 U.S. Junior Amateur at Oakland Hills Country Club in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan. Charlie earned his spot by winning a qualifier last month, mirroring his father’s legacy, as Tiger won this event three consecutive times from 1991-93.
Charlie’s day began early Monday on Oakland Hills’ North Course, with the South Course set for Tuesday. The U.S. Junior field features 256 players, but only 64 will advance to match play starting Wednesday.
Tiger was present Sunday, walking alongside Charlie during the practice round. While he isn’t caddying, Tiger was part of the large gallery following Charlie during the first round on Monday.
