Watch: Highlights from the Third Edition of the U.S. Adaptive Open at Sand Creek Station
NEWTON, Kan. — One of golf’s premier championships is underway.
The third U.S. Adaptive Open began Monday at Sand Creek Station, providing 96 golfers with impairments the opportunity to compete for a national championship. The event features eight impairment categories, each awarding prizes to the winners, along with overall men’s and women’s champions to be crowned after 54 holes.
The first two editions of the championship were held at Pinehurst No. 6, and the next two Adaptive Opens will take place at Woodmont Country Club in Rockville, Maryland. This event is one of 15 individual U.S. Golf Association championships being conducted in 2024.
Players compete from five separate yardages, ranging from 6,499 yards to 3,812 yards. This year marks the first with qualifying rounds, and there will be a 36-hole cut following Tuesday’s round.
